Visit Orlando
You are probably aware that Orlando holidays revolve around theme
parks, but this beautiful city has much more to offer the visitor
than just thrilling rides. Orlando also has the famous International
Drive which houses a huge number of attractions, shopping areas
and water parks, all within a reasonable walking distance if you
want a rest from driving. Although it wasn't always this full of
attractions, it has been pulling in visitors for many years and
its popularity does not seem to be diminishing.
Orlando is a warm and welcoming place that enjoys looking after
people with its many shopping malls, restaurants, clubs and bars.
An Orlando holiday is a destination that offers a wide range of
attractions perfect for adults and children of all ages.
Central Florida Zoological Park is one of the major reasons to visit
as the zoo is home to more than 400 animals that started out as
just a collection in the Sanford Fire Department. Even though it
is privately owned, it is run by a charitable group with the intention
of providing classes for children and protecting species that are
only found in Florida and other world wide exotic animals.
Back in 1942, the Morse Museum of American Art in Winter Park started
exhibiting the world's most extensive collection of the works of
Louis Comfort Tiffany. The collection is the most comprehensive
anywhere with Tiffany jewelry, art glass, ornaments, pottery, paintings
and leaded glass.
Whilst Orlando may appear on the surface to be a town designed for
the entertainment of children that could not be farther from the
truth with adults equally well looked after. For the young at heart,
Orlando holidays aim to please with extensive evening venues including
music and dance at Disney's incredible Pleasure Island and Universals
version, City walk, to name just a couple of places (the massive
popularity of Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island and Citywalk is probably
why the Church Street Station complex closed it doors a few years
ago).
Another great place to visit about twenty minutes drive from Orlando
Airport is The Orlando Science Center, originating back to 1955.
It's a huge complex with over two hundred thousand square feet of
exhibition space spanning ten halls. An alternative to this would
be the International Trolley and Train Museum which can be found
along International Drive and has one of the country's largest operating
indoor G gauge layouts in a space of over four thousand square feet.
The Titanic Ship of Dreams Exhibition can also be found along International
Drive. This is a moving, often eerie depiction of the great Ocean
Liner with a tour guide depicting a character from the ship with
many original items on display. Of course if you prefer something
more relaxing then you should visit Lake Eola Park, situated in
the heart of downtown - this is the city's main attraction with
43 acres of beautiful sidewalks and a boating lake.
Now you couldn't possibly visit Orlando without a trip to the numerous
theme parks including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and of
course not to forget the fantastic Seaworld.
The good weather in Orlando means holidays are normally enjoyable
throughout the year. beware though, it can be very busy during the
height of the summer and at other major holiday times like Easter,
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year.
